Yörük - Ayran

Ayran is a tasty drink made of yogurt, water and salt. In Turkey, it is very popular as refreshment on hot summer days, but also served with many traditional dishes at any time of the year. In the past, Ayran was made in horizontally hanging wooden barrels that were swung back and forth until a head of yogurt-foam developed on top. You can still come across this ancient production method with nomads or in remote villages. Tasty and healthy Swiss yogurt is mixed with fresh spring water and salt according to the traditional Anatolian recipe creating an aromatic refreshing drink.
